How to dispute an already-issued invoice or collective invoice. This is different from disapproving a Billing Request, which happens before an invoice is even created. See Billing Requests (Debtor).
TL;DR
- Disputing an invoice pauses payment on the disputed portion only. The undisputed portion still needs to be paid on its original due date.
- You must provide a reason so the merchant and Finqle can investigate.
- Disputes on Direct Payment invoices are resolved between you, the merchant and Finqle's credit management team, since the merchant has already been paid.
How to raise a dispute
- 1Open the invoice or collective invoice in the portal.
- 2Select Dispute, or contact Finqle support if the option is not visible for your setup, and describe the disputed line items and the reason.
- 3Finqle notifies the merchant and holds the disputed amount.
- 4The undisputed portion of the invoice remains due on its original term.
Resolution flow
What happens to the due date
- The disputed portion has its due date paused until resolution.
- The undisputed portion keeps its original due date and should still be paid on time.
FAQ
Can I dispute part of a collective invoice?
Yes. Disputes apply at line-item level, so you only hold back the specific disputed amount, not the whole collective invoice.
What if the merchant does not respond to my dispute?
Finqle's credit management team follows up on your behalf after a reasonable response window and mediates a resolution.
Does disputing an invoice affect my credit limit?
No, the disputed amount still counts as outstanding until the dispute is resolved. See Credit checks & credit limits.
